What to Expect:

It is generally accepted that data and technology serve as critical tools for innovation. However, we experience shortcomings in how we make these tools accessible to change agents and residents. In this session, we will explore platforms that are working to make data and technology more accessible and relevant.

Explore a new trajectory analysis tool and dashboard developed by the Baltimore Neighborhood Indicators Alliance (BNIA) and sponsored by IW. The app is designed to put the power of BNIA’s vast datasets on Baltimore’s neighborhoods in the hands of place-based entrepreneurs, residents, and change agents looking to (a) find out how their community is doing along key indicators (e.g., health, crime, education, etc.), and (b) measure the impact of their mission-driven businesses over time using these key indicators.
Explore the adaptation of Think|Stack’s technology platform - Collide. Currently used in for-profit businesses, Collide helps to crowd-source ideas from a variety of stakeholders in real-time and through remote access. Not only can users submit ideas on a given issue/question, but they can also comment and piggy-back on posts from others in the group, and ultimately “collide” similar ideas into connected conversation threads to streamline solutions and decrease duplication. Innovation Works is partnering with Think|Stack to adapt this technology to support community organizing and development efforts and accelerate innovation, along with the organizations that focus on developing communities.
Explore the EcoMap platform, in its effort to organize and make public the entrepreneurship ecosystem resources along with its intentional effort to use insights from aggregated data to better inform change agents on how to most effectively navigate resources and opportunities.
