These individuals are transforming Baltimore in many different ways, from creating jobs through the art of making/manufacturing, leveraging data and technology to power those on the frontlines of social change, and taking bold approaches to address residential real estate challenges in Baltimore’s neighborhoods.
We are in an era where impact investing is becoming the newest trend in philanthropy and change-making. There is also a sharpened narrative around empowering those closest to challenges with the resources necessary to lead change efforts in addressing said challenges. How do we ensure that the current trend and narrative do not fall short in actually bridging the gap between the financial resources and the need for investments at the local level? This session will focus on best practice models and the challenges of making social innovation accessible through innovative funding practices.

Social enterprises from the region will have displays around the room and a representative from each organization will be available to answer your questions about their work. It is generally accepted that data and technology serve as critical tools for innovation. However, we experience shortcomings in how we make these tools accessible to change agents and residents. In this session, we will explore platforms that are working to make data and technology more accessible and relevant.
